Enjoy a scenic 90-minute drive from the center of Tromsø to the ferry berth at Mikkelvika. From here it is a 10-minute ferry crossing to Bromnes on the island of Rebbenesøya. When you set foot on the island, it is a 15-minute walk on a slightly hilly path along the shore to the camp. Please see the map.

Our Trips
At Elements Arctic Camp, group sizes are normally limited to 4 participants. We can take to individual bookings, where each booking has its own yurt, maximum 4 persons. That means if you are a couple who are booking, another couple or single person can book the other yurt.
Larger groups can be considered on request. We keep small groups so that all our guests will be taken care of individually,on a personal level, and you will also have a better experience of the camp and its surroundings.
The tour packages include all necessary paddle and safety equipment. Each participant will have their own kayak as we do not have double kayaks.
For beginners, the guide provides an introduction to paddling techniques and safety. Please state your size (length and weight) when ordering, so that we can ensure that we have suitable equipment available.
NB. You need to be in medium physical condition. This means that you need mobility, balance, and able to walk 800 m on an uneven path with your own luggage and some of the food for the trip. In between the path is heavy loaded with snow.
You need no experience in kayaking.
If you are in doubt about your physical fitness, please get in touch to clarify this before the trip.
Food
On our trips we provide local food and local sweet snacks. Beer, wine and soft drinks are not included. Food is an important part during our trips and adventures. We therefore do our best to choose the best local products available for that specific season you are staying with us. We can provide glutenfree food or vegetarian food.
Note: The guests and the guide bring the food together to the camp. The guests and the guide prepare the food together.
Engvik Foodstore, the island has its own foodstore only 20 min driving from Bromnes, the pier were you can by food, as well as other different stuffs.
To bring
Please bring warm clothes and footwear suitable for the season (see below) and suitable for outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing (when snow).
If you don´t have suitable clothes we recommend to rent clothes in Tromsø at this place https://rental.tromsooutdoor.no/en/vinterklaer
For the kayaking we recommend dressing in 2-3 layers to keep warm, like wool, fleece and similar. Thermal jackets and thermal pants is not suitable under the drysuit. Try also to avoid jumpers with big hoods since this is inconvenient to wear under the drysuit.
The weather can change quickly here in the north and at times it can get quite cool even during summer. This is part of the charm here in the Norwegian Arctic, but it means you need to make an extra effort with your choice of clothing.
You can borrow thermal overalls at the camp (not suitable for hiking) but perfect while watching Northern lights.
Winter:
-Winter pants and winter jacket (thermo)
-Winter boots high-shafted
-Minimum two layers of wool or fleece (under dry suit)
-Warm hat, balaclava, mittens or scarf
-Headlight
-Extra clothes
Summer:
-Wind- and rain-resistant jacket and trousers
-Two layers, wool or fleece (under dry suit)
-Waterproof hiking boots
-Hat and gloves
-Sunglasses and sunscreen.
-Extra clothes
General all year round:
- drinking bottle
- Binoculars if you have any
- headlamp
Note; equipment and clothing should be packed rainproof and in a backpack for the actual walk out to the camp.
Security
We have high focus on security. In our region the water temperature is low throughout the year, and the weather can change very fast. Dry suit and west are always obligatoric during our trips. Our guides ensure that the kayaking is conducted safely and adapted to the participants skills. It is important that you inform the guides in advance of a trip/adventure of medical sircumstanses or other things that might have an influence of the security.
Difficult level
While no previous paddling experience is necessary, you must be in medium physical condition. You must be able to walk the distance of 800 m from the harbor to the camp site. Part of the route is uneven. During the middle of winter, we walk this stretch in darkness using head torches, which is very exciting.
Travel insurance
Everyone participating at our activities must have valid travel insurance covering all the activities offered by Elements Arctic Camp.
This traveling insurance is your own responsibility, check out with your insurance company, thank you.
When participating on our packages you will have to fill out a personal statement at the camp.

We will drive alongside a beautiful coast with fantastic views. When we drive over the mountain pass we will pass Norway’s largest island lake. Day 2
Next day after breakfast we get ready for a sea kayaking trip, this time in the daylight of the Arctic winter. This will be a totally different experience from yesterdays kayak trip in darkness. We plan to be out kayaking half of the day. The area surrounding our camp offers enormous variety for sea kayaking with wonderful trips of varying lengths and levels. The crystal-clear water makes it possible to study the marine life underneath your kayak. During the trip, we have short breaks were we eat some snacks and get some hot to drink. When we return to the camp we prepare some easy, nice food and snacks. The second part of the day we plan all dependent of the snow conditions, either hiking or snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. It is possible to do trips directly from the Camp, we can also choose tracks on the Island. The Island even has its own trail with light making it easy for cross-country skiing wintertime.
Evening time we make dinner, simply relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere at the Camp. We assure you that this is a wonderful place to relax. You can play card, read a book, listening to the sound of the sparkling wood oven in the light of candles, or just sit and chat with the guide. before you go to sleep
Day 3
After breakfast we plan to do a sightseeing trip and/or hiking on the Island.
That means that we leave the camp, pack all our stuff and bring the stuff to the car, and don´t get back to the camp.
We drive southwest on the island to Måsvik which offer a beautiful view, with white beaches, clear shallow and green water and lots of small Islands. Thereafter we drive to Engvika, which is perhaps home to the world’s most beautifully located shop. if conditions allow us we can hike the hills just nearby were you will have a spectacular view of the open sea. From this view you will be able to see the Island Sørfugløya, towering on the horizon. The Island is well known for the puffin colony. In this place we can take our lunch in a cozy "gapahuk" which is 3 walled wooden building. This is also a place where we can make a fire and do barbecue if the weather is suitable.
